Terms of use
Last updated 6 October 2026
The short version: take what we publish, make it yours, give it to as many people as you can. Keep our credit and the link, do not change the numbers, and do not treat any of it as advice.
What this is
Findings worked out from records that governments already publish. Every figure arrives with its population, its window, what was excluded and why. Where the regulator publishes a total of its own, we reproduce that total first, and if ours does not match theirs we have a bug rather than a finding.
It is not advice
Nothing here is legal, regulatory, financial or compliance advice, and it is not a substitute for reading your own file. Do not make a decision that matters to your business on the strength of a national pattern. If a finding bears on you, go to the underlying record, which we tell you how to find.
We get things wrong, and we would like to know
We publish what does not survive checking as well as what does. If you can show us an error we will correct it and say that we did. Tell us through the form.
What you may do with it
This is the part that matters, so it is written plainly rather than in the usual language.
- Take it. Reproduce it, print it, email it, post it, put it behind your members' login. You need no permission and there is no fee.
- Make it yours. Your logo, your colours, your wording around it. You do not have to credit us on the cover.
- No exclusivity and no limit. We will give the same work to anybody else who asks, and you may pass it to other groups.
Three things you may not do, and all three exist to protect the reader rather than us.
- Do not change the figures. Change the cover, the framing and the introduction as much as you like. The numbers, the denominators, the window and the stated exclusions stay as they are. An altered figure must not be presented as ours.
- Do not sell it. It was given to you free so that you could give it away free. Putting it behind a paywall breaks that.
- Do not remove our credit line or the link inside. They are how a reader checks the working and looks up their own record.
The underlying records are public and belong to nobody. The arrangement of them, the analysis and the writing are ours, licensed to you on the terms above.
No warranty
We check this work hard and we publish the method so you can check it too. We cannot promise it is free of error, that a source will still be published tomorrow, or that a finding still holds after the data behind it is refreshed. Every figure carries the window it was computed over, and that window is the claim.
Liability
The work is free and you choose how to use it. So, as far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using or relying on it, including loss of profit, business, contracts or reputation.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
